Women!? WTF!?!...win the future!?!

Men and women are in a cycle. Women especially most moms like to boss men around. The previous sentence is irrelevant to the issue at hand which is women are taking over man.They are taking over the industry and it started with the French. According to SreenDaily.com and a study CNC 279 films were directed by women and only 210 were by men. Sexism is a huge topic in the U.S. especially women make a big deal out of it, but is good to see that more women filmmakers are starting to get to the top--having a wife that's into making movies (lol know what I mean?;) wouldn't be so bad. The article also states that the percentage of pay that goes to women has risen by 3.3%in 2008 while 21.9% dropped from mens. Now before you get angry (guys) women all over the world have been receiving less pay for equal work, for many many years now. The industry is leveling. As a future filmmaker I think this rise of female directors and produvers is a good thing. Like I said I need a wife. All joking aside I believe that film shouldn't be limited to one gender everyone has ideas that they need to express, even women. I don't think that the industry would change much except that the industry would be based in the kitchen....KIDDING ladies!

From the Radio to Television then to Digital Media

What happened when the radio was introduced to the American people and the world? That's right they found a way to use it for entertainment. Families would huddle together and stared at the radio and listened to the programs. They would spend hours listening to the that little piece of technology because it was their form of entertainment, but what happened when television came along? ...yet another correct answer: That's right the Americans started to ditch the poor radio and they started watching T.V. Because of the invention of the television the American culture was able to grow around that. And thus Hollywood was born. Now there are film schools in L.A. and we as a country are ahead in terms of awesomeness in the film industry. Most of our blockbusters are big hits all around the world...forget Bollywood, Hollywood is where the parties at. But what if the American people started to ditch the T.V. like they did the radio? It's happening now as new technological advances are being made. This article tells us that society over recent years have started to deviate from the use television to the newer form of digital media. More people have started to use their smartphones for entertaintment other than phone calls.

Like there are two sides of a coin then there are two sides in film. First to make up a whole industry we have to make the movies. That is the creation of the product. The second part is the distribution of that said product. An industry is only an industry if it can manage to float above a profit. So that makes distribution a big deal. If more people are using their mobile device rather than the T.V. will certain television companies go under in the near future? Questions like these affect the futures of film industry. Certainly as different platforms emerge from our tireless society I belive, as a future filmmaker, that film should evolve with it. Maybe in the future the movie theatres would show holographics all around the audience instead of a regular flat screen. Something to think about.

Film Competitions and Their Benefits

Viewster, a "European VOD Service" is haveing a film competition and so far 84 films have been  entered. They say that the amount and quality of these films were very impressive. Any body is able to participate and anyone can watch the entries online at Viewster.com. What's great about this competition is that Viewster is giving the producers of the winning films an opportunity to enter a "revenue-sharing deals" with them. I think that competition like these is what keeps film going. Small time film makers such as myself and many others are grateful or things like these competitions. They give us an oppurtunity to rise to their challenge and show the world what we can do. Putting it up on Youtube is fine and is the first choice but being entered into a completion and having the chance to win  a prize is highly satisfying. I think that competitions like these are important because they give the opportunity of giving the film student confidence. As a future filmmaker I believe that competitions such as these are good for the industry. What type competitions will come up in the future?
